What's in the Box

How the C-A-T Works

The C-A-T has a free-moving band inside its outer strap, a band within a band. Turning the windlass tightens that inner band evenly around the limb. Once the bleeding stops, the windlass locks into place, and a hook-and-loop retention strap goes over it to hold the pressure while the casualty is moved. The red tip on the strap end is North American Rescue's visual cue.

Choose the Color

  • Tactical Black (NAR part number 30-0001): for carry where a low-visibility tourniquet suits you.
  • Rescue Orange (30-0023): easy to spot in a kit or on a vehicle.
  • Trainer Blue (30-0033): a fully working Gen 7 C-A-T colored blue so instructors and students can tell it apart from a carry tourniquet. It is for practice only.

Before You Carry One

A tourniquet is for severe bleeding from an arm or leg. Take a hands-on bleeding-control class, practice with a blue trainer rather than the tourniquet you carry, and remember that anyone who needs a tourniquet needs emergency medical care right away.
