Shears That Cut Clothing Away From an Injury
Before you can treat a wound you often have to get to it, and that means cutting through a sleeve, a pant leg or a seat belt. These 7.5" EMT shears are made for that job. The lower blade is serrated so it grips slick or thick material instead of sliding off, and GearBags lists clothing, denim, leather, webbing and seat belts among what they cut. The lower tip is blunt and has a small lip that slides under fabric and lifts it from the skin, so the cut can stay close to the patient with less risk of a nick. The blades are stainless steel with a matte black finish that cuts glare, and the soft, contoured handles keep a grip when gloves are wet. This listing is the fluorescent yellow version, quick to spot in a full bag. Its honest limits: they are not sold sterile; the blunt tip lowers the risk of cutting skin but care is still needed; and they are meant to be reused, with cleaning and disinfecting after every patient.
