by Philips

Over-the-Counter Home Defibrillator, Model M5068A

The Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator is sold without a prescription and is made for people with little or no training to use at home. Philips HeartStart Home AED (M5068A) - Features

Product Features

Easy to Use

The HeartStart Home Defibrillator gives step-by-step voice instructions from the moment you pull the green handle. Its SMART Pads sense what you are doing and adjust the instructions to your pace. During CPR it gives verbal instructions and audio cues for the number, rate and depth of chest compressions and for each breath.

Sold Without a Prescription

The HeartStart Home was the first defibrillator the FDA cleared for sale over the counter. The Adult SMART Pads cartridge that comes installed is for patients 8 years or older or 55 lb (25 kg) and over. For infants and children under 8 years or under 55 lb, Philips sells a separate Infant/Child SMART Pads cartridge (M5072A), which is available only by prescription.

Ready When You Need It

The AED comes with the battery and the Adult SMART Pads cartridge already installed. It runs automatic self-tests every day, including a check that the pads are ready to use. A blinking green light shows it is ready, and an audible chirp tells you when it needs attention.

SMART Analysis and Quick Shock

The AED reads the patient's heart rhythm and decides whether a shock is needed. If one is, it adjusts the shock to the patient's impedance. Philips' Quick Shock can deliver a shock typically 8 seconds after the end of a CPR interval.
